[Gopsons papers, New Delhi orders 2 Nos. Aster 180 – Book Sewing machines

It is a well known fact that in every book production facility book sewing is a bottle neck and it holds up production and puts a dempener on the productivity of the plant.

The reasons for this is simple. The gathering and sewing operations cannot start until all forms are printed and folded. Gathering operations can be accomplished reasonably fast but sewing operations is time consuming and slows down all further operations like soft cover or hard cover binding. The thicker the book the more are the number of sections and this slows the sewn book block production. Asters's reliability and capability to handle 4 page signatures to 48pp signatures makes it the most preferred sewing machine in the world. It can handle signatures made from thin bible papers to heavy coated art papers with the same ease. It is the only machine which ties knot on the last section of the book thereby keeping the block tight and firm resulting in a high quality finished book when bound.

Furthermore when a book is completed the open end of thread that is left can be short or long as per the choice of the operator. This is very useful because you need to leave long thread ends for hard cover book production and short thread ends for soft cover books. Our competitors machine do not give you this possibility.

It is for the above given reasons Aster sewing machines outsell all the other brands and are the most successful book sewing machines in the world.

One of the successful book printer in the NCR is M/s Gopsons Press Ltd., Noida headed by the family Patriach Shri Sunil Goel. Over the last few years they have added a number of machines for printing and post press operations. The company has experienced various book sewing machines from Brehmer to Aster machine which they purchased from the pre-owned market sometime back. Their experiences with this machine was so satisfying that when they needed more sewing capacity the decision was already made. They decided to go in for two book sewing machine from Aster. One machine was the standard 42 cms option and the second machine was the Aster 180 / 51 the 51 cms width option. Depending on format, pagination and layout constrains they have to opt for 2-up signatures which cannot be sewn on the standard Aster 180 which has a saddle width limitation and can accommodate books upto 42 cms only. The Aster is the only option offering both widths and this further reaffirmed their decision. It is very convenient to have a number of machines from the same family as it makes maintenance and stocking of spare parts very easy. Apart from this the operator once trained can operate & maintain both the model without any difficulty.]
